Time Out Says
From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2011Operated by the Ahmed family, who previously ran a curry house in Twickenham, the Brit Balti is definitely the place to get that greasy, florescent red tikka masala most of Dubai so criminally lacks. The tiny, sparsely decorated restaurant is hidden away in International City, but it really makes up for its size in character. The huge oily popadoms, drowned in chutney, are quintessentially British, while the generously portioned fatty prawn puri and spicy onion bhajis are both deliciously addictive. The masala doesn’t disappoint and the sizzling lamb dansak can be a touch tough, but redeemed when mixed with the nutty chana masala and syrupy peshwari naan. Brit Balti is cheap, cheerful and about as close as you’ll get to a Brixton curry house back in the UK, and sometimes that’s all we want, if only it had a license!
