Art Deco-style bar and restaurant in DIFC with an emphasis on seafood
Time Out Says
Ever fancied travelling back in time while slurping down fine, fresh oysters? Head to this swish Art Deco-style bar and restaurant in DIFC, where you’ll find the atmosphere swinging most evenings. Its popularity is largely due to its location, set in the heart of the city’s busy financial district, but also in no small part to the food and service, both of which put up fine competition in a fiercely competitive neighbourhood. From steak tartare to moules mariniere, it’s all good – the molluscs particularly, which are always reliably plump and fresh. Seafood, and shellfish especially, is the specialty here. Enormous platters, piled with oysters, fat prawns and juicy lobster, fly out from the raw bar with alarming pace – even when the price tag for a single one is likely to make your eyes water faster than a quick dip in the Dead Sea. The staff ferrying them around the room are just as impressive – attentive without being irritatingly so – and the improvement on this front in the past couple of years does not go unnoticed. And aside from those extravagant arrangements presented on ice beds, it’s good value. Head here to rub shoulders with the city’s slickers, even if your pay cheque doesn’t hold a pinstriped candle to theirs.
