Time Out Says

This elegant, 1920s-themed Belgian bar and restaurant with its Jazz Age posters framed on the walls and Art Deco-inspired furniture is a smart place to dine in DIFC.

Inside, the restaurant space sprawls with both high tables for those visiting the bar and low ones for a more comfortable evening meal.

It gets busy, too, and patrons also sprawl out onto the inviting terrace outside, making Café Belge a good choice in the cooler months, as well.

It’s pricey, but for the area it only follows suit and for the quality on offer it’s well worth your dirhams. Try some classic Belgian fare such as the moules frites with Belgian mayonnaise or dive straight into a juicy, succulent and satisfyingly large wagyu beef burger.

For something a little fancier, there are fresh oysters to pick from, which are a popular choice at this venue.

But if you’re just after a light bite, the beef carpaccio is also worth a mention – wafer-thin and full of punchy flavours, with foie gras, truffle, aioli and shavings of Parmesan all in the tasty mix.

Staff are helpful but mostly leave you to it, which is refreshing from a restaurant of this standing and very welcome when you’re slurping up a bowl of marinière moules. Which you’ll also enjoy. Be sure to check it out.

The bottom line
Fancy but not stuffy, make a date here.
