The decor is loud, the art quirky and opening hours long, but the food is far less memorable
Time Out Says
With the number of competing cafes lined along JBR’s The Walk, it’s no wonder Café O outdoes most with its extended opening hours. The red, blue white and yellow ‘Os’ that adorn the chairs, floor, ceiling and walls, along with its contemporary circular-themed art, means the venue fits in well on this trendy street, but unfortunately, in terms of its food, it settles for mediocre. The menu fuses Lebanese, American and pan-Asian cuisine, but if only Café O was master of one... It doesn’t get as busy here as other outlets on The Walk, maybe because its Jack of all trades menu is so mismatched with the impression the decor creates. The tenderloin steak is palatable, while the curried-lime salmon tastes less flavoursome than the name would suggest. But the Cafe O sampler starter offers a great way for indecisive types to taste what’s on offer, at good value. We’d also recommend the mocktails, which are a sweet, zesty boost to some of the more lacklustre mains.
