Italian food with a Texan influence in Dubai

Time Out Says

From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2008

As you would expect from a Texas-based casual dining chain featuring ‘farmhouse Italian food’, the cuisine at Johnny Carino’s is only marginally Italian and is served in enormous, artery clogging portions. And while the food is fine, it lacks style, Italian or otherwise.

A huge chicken salad comes with breaded chicken, piles of fresh leaves and a tangy sauce. Grilled chicken caesar has a good dressing, if a bit light on the anchovies, and is properly served with romaine lettuce.

The dense lasagne, made with 12 layers of pasta, ricotta cheese and meat sauce has a homely feel to it, and will certainly fill you up.

Desserts are large enough to remind you why Texas is the fattest state in America. Chocoholics can opt for the chocolate cake – two enormous wedges of dense cake propped up by a mound of ice-cream.

Friendly service, reasonable prices and safe food make this a good choice for families and anyone not counting calories.
