Time Out Says

We’re sure that in years gone by, when ‘new Dubai’ was still just a gleam in developers’ eyes and when Wafi was considered new and funky, Carter’s was probably a pretty hot place to go out. Now, as a bar, it’s lost its way somewhat. After turning its back on its former colonial styling’s, the bar is now suffering a bit of an identity crisis. On some visits it recalls a rowdy sports bar, on others there’s pumping trance to entertain drinkers. In neither case do the punters seem especially amused. The diners on the other side of the room, however, are far better catered for. Carter’s offers a superior take on bar food. The menu is wide and varied, with decent international fare and a good range of appetisers breaking up the humdrum hamburger classics. We’re particularly impressed with its ability to serve well-cooked meat and fish dishes, and prices are reasonable. Well worth a visit.
