Casa de Goa
Romantic Indian restaurant with al fresco terrace in Bur Dubai
Time Out Says
From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2011This incongruously-named restaurant and hotel is located in bustling Bur Dubai, alas with not a beach or palm tree in sight. Perched on the 6th floor of the rather obscure Palm Beach Hotel, it’s the sort of place you’d never stumble upon accidently. Its poorly lit and lacklustre interior doesn’t exactly capture the spirit of Goa either. We strongly advise you grab a table on the diminutive, but nonetheless charming alfresco terrace. Thankfully there is something authentic about this restaurant - the food.
A simple, solid and competent menu of traditional goan specialities restores our confidence. Honouring its Indian and Portuguese culinary roots, Casa de Goa’s dishes are predominantly seafood-based and this is where it excels. Kick start your appetite with a tawa fish tikki starter and follow with the more-ish kingfish masala fry or goan prawn curry. The service is similarly delightful, with knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff who are eager to make gentle recommendations. At Dhs30 for a main course, you can probably get more curry for your money in Karama, but it’s still worth dropping by for the superb fish curry.
