Time Out Says

Remember that age old saying, don’t judge a book by its cover? Bear that in mind when dining at Catfish. Located inside Kitchen Nation in Business Bay, this restaurant shares its kitchen with no less than 11 other restaurants and, to break it down simply, looks like a workplace canteen.

There’s a small indoor space with metal tables and chairs and then a couple more tables outside that overlook the canal, perfect for the winter weather.

It’s busy when we arrive, albeit with Deliveroo drivers rather than diners, but we’re not put off. If this many people are ordering it must be good right? And it is. Very good.

From wellness blogger Gbemi Giwa, dishes at Catfish are influenced by her Nigerian roots and interest in healthy living. The menu isn’t huge but the selection is top-notch, including for vegans – if it has a V next to it on the menu, you’re good to go.

We accidently order a feast – large here definitely means large – so go hungry.

Don’t miss the Wrestler’s Choice, made up of sticky jerk mushrooms, grilled plaintain, guacamole, salad leaves and the smokiest jollof rice we’ve ever tasted.

The Dancing Waist (will it make ours smaller?) is similar to the other salad but replaces the mushrooms with grilled peri-peri chicken. It’s tangy, spicy, delicious and just gets better with every bite.

Catfish’s food is fresh, flavourful and we can’t wait to visit again.
