Chateau Blanc Terrace
Time Out Says
The first thing that hits us is the stench of stale smoke. It’s appetite-suppressing to say the least, and we’re shown to a rather tatty-looking table. Saying that, the café is quite busy and we take it as a good sign.
A perusal of the menu lifts our spirits, and you’ll find offerings from around the world for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Service is slow, though, and communication is a problem throughout the meal.
When the food finally arrives, the traditional Middle Eastern shakshouka is a good size and nice enough, with perfectly cooked eggs swimming in a rich tomato sauce packed full of crunchy veggies.
The Turkish eggs on sourdough, however, arrives without sourdough (instead there’s some sorry-looking white toast) and the tzatziki is a bit tart for our liking for this time of day.
We also try a couple of salads that are fresh and made with good ingredients, but don’t blow us away.
After you’ve eaten, you’ll face another long wait for your bill, by which point you’ll probably be at the end of your tether.
With all of the cafés popping up on Jumeirah Beach Road, Chateau Blanc really needs to up its game to position it as a prime spot to visit.
