Time Out Says
Yet this is one of the most authentic Chinese meal we’ve had in a long time.
Not only are the portions huge, but the cooking is flavourful and all in all it’s an absolute bargain, with the average main dish coming in at Dhs40.
The Dhs18 dumplings are some of the biggest we’ve ever seen, coming in at a good six inches long, and the Dhs32 mound of fried tofu oozes flavour with a gentle kick of spice.
We suspect that the promise of “sizzling chicken” is just a menu gimmick until we hear a hissing sound coming towards our table from one of the restaurant’s trolleys.
The waitress reveals a metal griddle brimming with crackling chicken and the pungent aroma of spiced black bean envelopes our table.
The flavourful sauce is the perfect accompaniment for tender poultry, which again is served in such a quantity that we struggle to finish it all.
China Sea has absolutely no frills at all, but if you leave your preconceptions at the doorway by the dragon statues, then this is a brilliant find.
