Time Out Says

Situated just beyond the impressively ornate lobby of The Mövenpick Ibn Battuta Gate hotel, Chor Bazaar is pegged an upmarket Indian restaurant with a lively open kitchen showcasing three traditional tandoor ovens at the centre and friendly, attentive staff. It’s surprisingly lacking in clientele, however, even during the weekend, but it doesn’t detract from the stellar dining experience. We recommend the chokwa halli tikki – shallow fried potato with chickpeas and yoghurt – to start, as it bursts with flavour, boasts a kick and the mint chutney is so good we tend to order more to accompany our main courses. Meanwhile, the gorgeously spiced chicken biryani is served in a hot claypot and covered by freshly baked bread – it’s a winner. Chor Bazaar is a little on the pricey side, but the service is excellent, the setting smart and the menu faithful to its colourful Mumbai heritage, leaving any patron certain of a return visit.
