Time Out Says

Although Claypot, which is located in the old end of town, has a fairly basic and unimpressive venue and setting, it’s surprisingly great. Firstly, the staff are particularly friendly but unobtrusive, offering suggestions and even sharing small tasting plates of their own favourite dishes from the kitchen if you don’t order them. The décor is more functional than anything else, but if you settle into your own comfortable, intimate booth, then your experience here will be lovely. The menu features everything you would expect – tandoori and curries of lamb, chicken, seafood and vegetables, plus plenty of dahl and bread to choose from – and the flavours are generally spot on. In particular, we recommend the bhuna gosht (unless you’re averse to spice). The lamb chunks are beautiful and tender and the curry sauce is rich, aromatic and moreish. It’s a real highlight. If you’re looking for a casual meal with great flavours, friendly service and very, very reasonable prices, then it’s certainly worth driving to this end of town to Claypot.
