From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2008
Located in the club house of the popular Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club, Lakeview has shown its staying power. Inside it’s easy to see why; it’s an attractive, airy space owing to its assortment of comfy lounge chairs indoors, and wooden chairs and tables that look out onto the Creek on the terrace outside.
While the venue is frequented mainly by golfers, locals in national dress and a healthy smattering of expats also come here to chat, sip coffee, unwind and enjoy a light bite in a convivial setting. Food-wise, the menu is enchantingly eclectic.
Middle Eastern mezze, substantial salads and sandwiches, hearty soups, seafood and pasta are juxtaposed alongside Indian and far eastern fare such as sushi and Thai green chicken curry. The caesar salad is a mountain of crunchy leaves with a piste of chicken, strong parmesan and croutons, while the nasi goreng – mixed rice topped with a fried egg – is sublimely satisfying.
If you’ve got room, there’s an extensive list of wickedly indulgent desserts on offer, or else close with a coffee served in elegant crockery and accompanied by a welcome biscotti. Portions are plentiful and beautifully presented, prices are reasonable and service friendly and efficient.
All told, this is a pleasant, unpretentious place in which to pass a few hours, and it really is too good to leave just to the golfers.
