The Holiday Inn in Al Barsha is clearly not one of the trendy dining spots in the Dubai. However, those who turn their noses up at the location are missing out on some fine food at Royal Budha. Tucked away in the corner of the hotel, the restaurant hasn’t been busy on any of our visits, which is a shame. The menu is pretty lengthy and there are dishes on it that you won’t find at local takeaways. Staff are happy to explain (or warn) about the more authentic and unusual dishes, however, so you can dip your toes into the more outré territories without being too scared. The dishes you will recognise are knockout – try the curries (but especially the beef massaman) with rice for a filling and inexpensive meal. The spicy salads are also great value, though some of the ingredients are a little insipid. As ever with Thai, be careful how much spice you ask for – the chefs can be fairly liberal with the chillies.
