Wagamama

Hearty wholesome Japanese food in the heart of JBR

Tucked away on the first floor of the Al Fattan towers, Wagamama has the distinct advantage of being so remote that unless you visit on a weekend it’s unlikely you’ll suffer from their stringent ‘no booking ahead’ policy. The menu, and indeed the food itself, is comforting, with the likes of sticky chicken yakitori skewers and perfectly cooked crispy chili squid working alongside the bigger bowls of aromatic ramen broths, bento boxes and teriyaki soba noodles topped with hunks of fresh salmon and steak. The neat little rows of wooden tables do mean you are always in danger of sitting too close to your neighbours, and the lack of windows can make the occasion feel rather claustrophobic, but the mango pavlova is worth sticking around for.
