Diggy Dog

Hot dog speciality restaurant in Dubai's International City

Time Out Says

From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2011
Diggy Dog, you may not be surprised to hear, calls itself ‘the house of hot dogs,’ and you know it from the second you step in the door. The American diner-inspired venue has hot dog images and trivia facts on the walls, while the menu is almost exclusively hot dog-related items. This is the restaurant’s USP and its downfall. A hot dog has only a limited amount that can be done with it. It starts off well, offering a choice of regular or whole wheat bread and a choice of chicken, beef or turkey sausage.

There’s even a rare veggie option. But then they fall into the trap, so common here, of mistaking ‘imagination’ for ‘throw as many incongruous items as possible into the meal.’ Hot dogs come with mince, processed cheese, mushrooms… Perhaps most terrifyingly of all, the diggy pop, a sausage, wrapped in mozzarella cheese and then pasted, hedgehog-like, with a coating of chips and served on a stick. My Chilli Mexican came with jalapeños, gherkins, hot tomato sauce and, bizarrely, baked beans on it. A simple hot dog is one thing but to travel to International City again to munch on one filled with the entire contents of a fridge, is another.
