Time Out Says
If you’ve been past Din Tai Fung in Mall of the Emirates, you’ll have noticed the crowds that seem to gather around and the number of people (customers and staff) packed inside. Once you get a seat, you’ll quickly work out this is not the place for a leisurely meal. Staff buzz around, eager to take your order, and once it’s in, dishes will start arriving with either alarming or impressive speed, depending on your outlook. Most people are here for the dim sum, but there are also noodles, soups and meat dishes available, too. We recommend sticking with the dim sum, though. We’re fans of the Szechuan shrimp and chicken wontons, which are steamed rather than fried, and sit in a terrifically spicy sauce. Other highlights are the seafood xiao long bao, while the somewhat dry consistency of the filling in the mushroom and vegetable dumplings lets them down. You’ll probably be in and out within 40 minutes and will have spent less than Dhs150 between two. For a pit stop in the mall, it’s a great option.
