Time Out Says
Situated on the ground floor of the shopping mall, the décor of this café-restaurant hybrid successfully merges European glamour with a more casual North American vibe.
An eclectic mix of furniture makes the interior feel cosy, but – weather-permitting and if you can find space – it’s worth heading to the outside terrace, which comes complete with views of the boat-filled Marina and the screams of adrenaline-junkies zooming down the zip line straight over your head.
An American theme runs through the menu, but there are Asian influences too with a tempura starter and wasabi-glazed salmon.
There’s a mixture of healthy salads like the Urban Red (beetroot, walnuts, orange and feta on a bed of rocket) and Sicilian (grilled eggplant, courgettes, carrots, peppers, beans and rocket), but we also discover some tasty-sounding comfort food too – the mushroom and Swiss and the shredded brisket sandwiches come highly recommended.
The avocado hummus dip is thick and creamy, and when we run out of crostini, the staff are only too happy to bring us an extra plate of the crunchy herb-infused mini toasts.
The Asian salad tastes as good as it looks, piled with red cabbage, carrots, sesame seeds, peanuts, ginger, chicken and hoisin dressing all tossed together to create a healthy, colourful dish full of flavour.
The steak here is also tasty and tender. Choose from five sauces such as the truffle cream or the three peppercorn to enhance it further.
Service is friendly and helpful, but slow, but we’ll put this down to its newcomer status. If you’re heading here at the weekend prepare for a wait – or get here early to get a prime spot.
It’s on the pricey side, but for mall dining that’s a little different, it’s worth giving EETEN a try, whether you’re mid-shop or just strolling around the Marina.
