Time Out Says
But as soon as the (correct) food arrives, the mistake is forgiven.
The mushroom and corn taco is delicious and has just the right amount of spicy sauce, while the shredded chicken version is overflowing with filling and wolfed down.
The vegetarian enchilada is smothered in cheese, as all good enchiladas are, and perfectly complemented by Mexican rice and beans.
The churros are also delicious but are a tad small and, sadly, don’t come with a dipping sauce, which is odd.
Everything about this spot is geared towards authenticity – the menu is small, meaning the chef can focus on getting the dishes just right, and the interiors, which include stained walls and mismatched posters, make it feel like a real hole-in-the-wall. The compact space boasts vibrant décor, with trinkets bought at Mexican markets, such as crafts from Guadalajara and Oaxaca.
If you’re after authentic, well-priced tacos, El Mostacho is a decent low-key spot, especially if you’re looking for lunch in JLT.
