Emirati 'N' More

High hopes of sampling authentic Emirati food are dashed

Time Out Says

Emirati N More, one of the few Emirati restaurants in Dubai, is located in Cassells Hotel, which in turn is located in a patch of desert vaguely near the Sharaf DG Metro station. The restaurant is often completely empty, and, disappointingly, the menu features an unsettling number of ‘international’ dishes prefixed with the words ‘Emirati’, ‘UAE’ or ‘Middle Eastern’. As such, its authenticity is questionable, so best swallow pretentions of a quintessential local meal before ordering dishes such as Emirati panini and the Al Majboos. The Emirati panini is effectively chicken and raita sauce but Al Majboos, however, proves the highlight, the biryani-style basmati with a generous sprinkling of cashews and raisins, and slow-cooked lamb. Worth going for the surreal setting, though perhaps not for the truest representation of local cuisine.
