Time Out Says
The interiors are cute and kitsch, with an array of colourful lampshades hanging from the ceiling and comfy patterned soft chairs at each table. The aesthetics of the menu are also very retro, with it presented like an old newspaper complete with art to match.
But the real beauty at Enab Beirut is in the food. From the extensive menu the muhammara is the some of the best we’ve tried (it’s not too spicy but also has a gentle hint of chilli) while the garlic labneh is thick and well-balanced, making an excellent topping for the frequent servings of hot bread. The labneh can be served plain, or topped with vegetables, which is a tasty touch, adding a different texture.
Also impressive are the fried cheese rolls, which are served hot, straight from the pan and come as a sizeable portion – meaning you’ll get loads of melty dairy goodness.
For those who are calorie counting, the hot mezze is all available grilled as well as fried – which is equally tasty while waistline-friendly.
But most of all, our top tip here is to listen to the staff. They know the menu back to front and are happy to recommend options that’ll suit your taste buds.
And if you don’t want to do that, just order the muhammara and manakish – you won’t regret it.
