Time Out Says

The venue: Brunch is served in a large, light dining area with views of the plush racecourse. The sophisticated and open plan layout of Farriers stops this from being one big kids’ party, despite the countless number of little ones in attendance.

The food: The spread of food is truly international with Arabic, Chinese, Indian and traditional roasts all on offer. The food presentation area buzzes with activity, with a number of live cooking stations to choose from including freshly rolled sushi and pasta cooked to order. Overall, the food tends to look good, but is a little bland to taste. On our visit, the Chinese noodles from the live station, made with duck and pak choi, were definitely a spicy highlight.

The drinks: All your typical soft drinks or house beverages, depending on the package you opt for.

The crowd: Families and couples, and large groups of kids celebrating birthdays.

The dress code: Smart casual.

The service: Service varies in different areas. The staff at the live stations are only too happy to explain what they are preparing and offer you a plate, whereas table staff are a bit difficult to find when needed.

Highs & lows: Highs include the live cooking stations and the array of desserts to finish your meal. The low point would be the blandness of the food and the fact that some of the dishes on offer are aimed at a child’s palate rather than an adult’s, unless, of course, you're taking the kids along.

Extras & entertainment: A house jazz band plays pop songs throughout the afternoon to entertain adults, while kids are kept occupied by a bouncy castle, face painting, candy floss and mini golf.

The after party: The Meydan is a little isolated, so after brunch you probably need to head back towards town if you want to keep things going later into the day.

Best for: families with kids in tow

Dhs290 (soft drinks), Dhs450 (house beverages), Dhs590 (bubbly), Dhs155 (kids aged five-12), free (kids under five). 12.30pm-4pm.
