February 14 is likely to be a dry day, although this hadn’t been confirmed at the time of writing. Many restaurants are scheduling Valentine’s events on Sunday 13 or Tuesday 15 instead, so be sure to call ahead.

1 Dubai Marina Yacht Club: If you’re planning to pop the question on Valentine’s Day, impress your loved one with a cruise on the luxurious Athena yacht. The cost includes a three-hour cruise with a four-course set menu, a bottle of bubbly, a chef and a butler on board.

2 Dusit Thani Dubai: All three of the hotel’s restaurants will be serving set meals on February 14 – great for couples who enjoy each other’s company without the benefit of a stiff drink. The Californian is Dhs398 per couple with soft drinks, fresh juices and a special mocktail, while Benjarong and Pax are Dhs499 per couple including a mocktail each.

3 Ember Grill and Lounge: On February 13 and 14, enjoy a four-course menu of grilled specialities. The dinner deal also includes flowers and chocolates, just in case you forgot to buy them earlier.

4 Esca: On Valentine’s Day, Esca will be dishing up five tempting courses while you whisper sweet nothings by the pool in the shadow of the glittering Burj Khalifa. There’ll also be roses and chocolates for ladies.

5 Maya by Richard Sandoval: Those looking to spice up their Valentine’s Day celebrations on February 14 and 15 should head to this high-end Mexican restaurant helmed by top chef Richard Sandoval.

6 M-Dek: On February 13 and 14, Chef Nicolas will be offering a vast selection of recipes to heighten the senses. Though couples are welcome, the night is geared towards singles looking to mingle. February 14 is dry, but the hotel is offering special room packages.

7 Oscar’s: Love is all about sharing, which is why Oscar’s is offering a sharing menu for two on February 14 and 15 – delicate seafood, succulent meat skewers and a heart-shaped dessert.

8 Rhodes Mezzanine overnight stay: On the evenings of February 10, 11 and 12, enjoy top-class fare and an overnight stay at Grosvenor House for Dhs925 per person. Not too bad

9 Rive Gauche: To avoid the potential dry day on February 14, Rive Gauche is offering a five-course set menu from February 10-13, and ladies will also receive a spa discount voucher. Best for couples who need to celebrate their Valentine’s Day with bubbles.

10 Saha Courtyard: Just because you’ve a family doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy Valentine’s Day with kids in tow. Saha will offer live buffet stations in a serene setting that makes you feel as though you’ve escaped the city.

14 The Talk: Smooth grooves and fun on the outdoor terrace – we predict a relaxed, yet romantic experience.
