Can you stomach it?
To take your mind off what it really is, let’s just say that haggis is Scottish sausage, which, essentially, is what it is, stuffed with onions, oatmeal, suet, spices…and sheep innards (hey, don’t knock it till you try it). Traditionally, this meaty delicacy was boiled in a sheep’s stomach, but that trend is a bit passé these days. Alas, since haggis isn’t usually considered halal, it tends to disappear from the shelves of Choithams and Spinneys. That was, until some ingenious Scottish butchers started making a halal version for their Muslim customers (and for the handful of Scottish expats living in Dubai). Are you hankering for haggis? Pick some up in the freezer aisle.
