Hola and bom dia! We though we’d welcome you with a little Latin spirit, since this is the direction this week seems to be heading. Despite the glut of Latin openings earlier in the year, it seems this trend is not a passing phase, with more Mexican and Brazilian options launching.

O Cacti has just opened at the new Pier 7 complex in Marina Mall, a Mexican restaurant concept which has already been tried and tested at the Lebanon branch, which opened back in 2001. The menu of Mexican cooking has been devised by chef Marco Abed who trained under world-renowned French chef Alain Ducasse. At O Cacti, there is also an emphasis on Mexican beverages and music, with international DJs and Latino bands. There’s also a new churrascaria coming up, swelling the ranks of this style of Brazilian barbecue restaurant in Dubai. The new restaurant, Chamas, at the Crowne Plaza on Sheikh Zayed Road is currently due to open in October, although this could be subject to change, so keep your eyes peeled.

Now let’s go full circle, because in other Brazilian news, Dubai’s first churrascaria Fogueira Restaurant and Lounge at the Ramada Plaza in JBR will celebrate its first anniversary next week. From Friday October 4-10, the restaurant will kick off a week of entertainment with a showcase featuring Latin, Brazilian and Cuban music, as well as samba dance performances during dinner.

On reflection, we’re also getting a little lazy this week, and enjoying having our food, coffee and more brought to us. The first sedentary delight comes from Jones the Grocer who has launched a home delivery service. Jones will now be delivering a select list of dishes from the normal menu to locations between Safa Park and Dubai Marina, including the Palm Jumeirah from Saturday-Thursday 4pm-11pm. That’s dinner sorted, then.
Meanwhile, Gourmet kiwi chain Burger Fuel has just announced that its newest location, a drive-through joint on Jumeirah Beach Road, is now open. There’s even a new burger on the menu for you to try, the America, Sup? is stuffed with a 1/3 lbs patty of New Zealand grass-fed beef, hash browns, cheese and beef bacon.

Moving on, if you’d rather get your coffee to go, you should make a detour in your morning commute this week to the Radisson Blu Deira Creek. The hotel will be giving out free coffee and donuts from 7am-10am, each morning until Sunday September 29. What’s the catch? Nothing, apparently, you just need to drive by!

And Ripe are at it too, launching a drive-through coffee service at the beginning of October, from the farm shop in Al Manara. Sadly this time it’s not free, but you can expect locally roasted caffeine by RAW. You’ll
be able to pick up some healthy snacks such as organic fruit, for breakfast too.

Until next week, bon appétit!
