UAE brands going global

Contrary to the normal flow of things, Dubai-based brands are now invading the rest of the globe

Just Falafel
At the beginning of November, Just Falafel was awarded the top position in the Dubai small and medium enterprises 100 ranking, jumping up from 49 last year. Headquartered in Dubai, the chain was founded in 2007 but now already boasts franchises across the UAE as well as in Qatar, Turkey, Oman, Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and the UK.

You might not know that Dubai-based luxury hotel chain Jumeirah Group has a reach far beyond our own sunny shores – and one that’s expanding all the time. There are now Jumeirah hotels in Shanghai, Frankfurt, Rome, the Maldives, London and Istanbul, to name but a few, and more planned for Bali, Mumbai, Bangkok, the West Indies and beyond.

The Dubai café brand, launched in 2011 in Murooj Rotana, this year joined forces with regional franchise consultants Francorp Middle East as part of plans to expand its presence in the UAE and GCC. It is perhaps best known for its focus on the use of camel milk in its food and beverages, and here in the city, Café2go has fully fledged cafés, kiosks and a mobile van café.
