Canadian restaurants in Dubai

Growing dining scene starting to rival US neighbours

Fraiche Café and Bistro
An excellent spot for breakfast and burgers, this urban, slightly industrial-looking café has a strong menu, with Canadian-inspired twists all around. Highlights include the upgraded poutine (that’s chips, gravy and cheese curd to you), served classically, or with the addition of crab.
Swiss Tower, Cluster Y, Jumeirah Lakes Towers (04 369 7821).

Maple Leaf Restaurant
The speciality at this little Canadian diner is huge, hearty, messy sandwiches, stuffed with Montreal-style smoked meats. You can also try poutine, and Canadian favourite ‘castor tail’ (sweet pastry in the shape of a beaver’s tail).
Jumeirah Beach Road (04 338 3001).

Recently opened at The Beach complex in JBR, the menu at this Montreal-born concept is quite unsurprisingly primarily dedicated to egg dishes and breakfast. As a result, expect (should we have said, ‘eggspect’?) to find a whole page dedicated to omelettes (and many other egg recipes), as well as French toast combinations.
