This week we discover all-American openings in Jumeirah, a new menu at Ottomans in Dubai Marina and more.
This week begins with a feast of Americana in Jumeirah. Head to Jumeirah Beach Road right now, and you’ll find it is awash with new burger and American steak concepts. Perhaps most is exciting is the minimally sized burger joint Moylo, which has recently had a royal visit from Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, deputy ruler of Dubai and minister of finance. At this tiny but artsy and urban-looking venue, you can sample an equally diminutive list of gourmet beef and chicken burgers.
Not far from Moylo on the same road is new American concept Caliburger. It’s an all American burger joint, featuring mushroom and cheese and chipotle barbecue recipes. And guess who has also been down to visit recently? Yep, Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Do you need a better recommendation?
Also located in Jumeirah are two new branches of American steakhouse concepts. In Jumeirah 3 you’ll find a new branch of Texan concept Ponderosa Grill, the brand’s fourth outlet in Dubai. Head to Wasl Vita Mall and you’ll also find the newest branch of Tony Roma’s.
After all that American eating, it’s time for a little something homegrown. Boxpark, the new outdoor mall concept built in and around shipping containers and due to open imminently on Al Wasl Road, is home to a brand-new Emirati-inspired dining concept called Logma. The restaurant is promising qahqa (local coffee), luqaimat (Emirati doughnut balls) and other Khaliji favourites too.
Still on Al Wasl Road, inside Galleria Mall, Japanese venue Atisuto has introduced a new lunch menu. The venue is offering sushi platters to share comprised of 24 or 36 pieces, and they will throw in a complimentary carpaccio or ceviche of your choice, too. Bento boxes are also available, with options to create your own mix.
Moving on from the Jumeirah area, fans of Turkish food should check out the new menu at Ottomans in Grosvenor House Dubai, Dubai Marina. New items to try include deep-fried calamari coated with cornmeal and almond tarator sauce, and Turkish coffee-flavoured hot chocolate cake with vanilla ice-cream for dessert.
Next month, the celebration to look forward to will be Saint Patrick’s Day (a celebration of Ireland’s patron saint), taking place on Tuesday March 17. While Dubai is sure to be awash with the black stuff and green-themed promotions to celebrate, we’ve found something a little different for you to enjoy. The Beach House at Anantara Dubai The Palm Resort & Spa will be celebrating with its first-ever Irish beverage and oyster festival. From Friday March 13 to Tuesday 17, it will be serving smoked Irish salmon with caper berries, seafood chowder and more.
Until next week, bon appétit!
