Brunch, Brunch Dhs200-299

In a tweet: Refined Japanese cuisine and breath-taking views of the Burj Khalifa. Best for chilling out with friends.

The venue: Perched on a terrace overlooking The Dubai Fountain and the Burj Khalifa, it’s clear to see that the location is this brunch’s main selling point. It’s the perfect venue for entertaining guests, with a view that doesn’t disappoint.

The food: Diners are served a set menu of Japanese cuisine, including miso soup, sushi, sashimi, black cod miso and wagyu beef. It’s all very refined and the portion sizes are perfect for sharing, especially the generous sushi and sashimi platter. A dessert tray featuring mochi ice cream, sorbet and plenty of fresh fruit rounds off the meal nicely.

The drinks: Zeta serves up a refreshing array of fruity mixed beverages, served in huge glass jars to be shared with the table. There are also mocktail versions of these drinks, which pair well with the light Japanese food on offer.

The crowd: The stunning view makes this the perfect place to impress, and you’ll find tourists and hotel guests enjoying the setting. It isn’t a rowdy brunch, and you’ll likely see a few families in attendance, too.

The dress code: Smart casual is the official line, but as Zeta is positioned next to the hotel’s pool, it tends to have a more casual vibe.

The service: Service can be a bit hit and miss. The staff are unwaveringly friendly and always happy to have a chat, but seem a bit forgetful and distracted at times.

Extras & entertainment: There’s no entertainment, but The Dubai Fountain starts up mid-way through the brunch, providing a regular and spectacular show.

Highs & lows: Zeta probably has one of the best views of the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Fountain you can find. Despite not being a Japanese restaurant, the cuisine on offer is high quality and sure to impress. Service, while warm and friendly, can be a bit patchy, but this is nit-picking. This is an impressive all-round package.

The after party: Zeta stays open if you fancy a few mixed beverages while soaking up more of the view. Popular lounge bar Calabar is also in the same hotel, should you fancy a change of scene.
