Brunch

In a tweet: A high-end Indian dining experience from this sophisticated restaurant. Best for a refined celebration.

The venue: The colour scheme of this plush and pristine restaurant is all dark brown woods, hints of cream and accents of green. Look closer and you’ll see ornate carvings and decorative leaf and flower patterns making up the subtle design details. The restaurant oozes sophistication and is impressive from the moment you walk in; stylish staff show you to your table, stunning panoramic views can be enjoyed from the window seats, and artfully-plated food is served directly to your table.

The food: High-end Indian cuisine is the order of the day, served with fine-dining flair. Each dish contains just the right balance of spice – the kitchen will up the ante or tone it down to your specific tastes. Just reading what’s included in the six courses might leave you wondering how you’ll fit it all in, but portion sizes are just right – small, appetising and appealing. It’s among the finest tasting Indian food we’ve tried in the city, and one of the most refined brunches.

The drinks: Choose from soft drinks, premium beverages, sparkling grape and bubbly. All drinks are of good quality and glasses are regularly topped up throughout. A refreshing juniper-based beverage with cucumber is offered upon arrival to ease you nicely into an afternoon of fine dining.

The crowd: On our visit, there were a few groups and couples celebrating special occasions. A larger party had also hired out the lounge bar for a baby shower, and the space seemed ideal for such a gathering.

The dress code: Smart casual. Ladies look chic and guys have clearly made an effort. As long as you don’t show up in ripped jeans, shorts or flip-flops, you’ll be on the right track.

The service: Staff are brilliantly astute, watching tables from the sidelines throughout to anticipate your next top up and to ask if you’re ready for your next course. Nothing is served without your say so. Waiting staff even ask if you'd like to take breaks between courses. They also confidently suggest mixed beverages if you’re unsure of what to go for next.

Extras & entertainment: There’s live music from a DJ throughout brunch.

Highs & lows: You can order as many rounds of each course at you like, but save room for the main course, which is the highlight. We can’t think of any lows at this one.

The after-party: Since you’ll be all dressed up, head to the nearby JW Marriott Marquis Dubai and continue the night at Vault or Velocity, which have happy hours from 6pm to 8pm.

The verdict: 5/5
