Kitchen 6 brunch at JW Marriott Marquis review

Best Brunch, Brunch

Simple and understated, Kitchen 6 is a minimalistic combination of warm woods, glass and chrome. It’s light and spacious, which means it doesn’t feel crowded, but also that even when relatively busy, it has a slightly clinical edge – an out-of-place LED screen with scrolling headlines doesn’t help. It’s not bursting with character, but it has a casual-yet-refined vibe. Large international buffets can run the risk of having too much choice of a mediocre standard, but Kitchen 6 does everything well. The Middle Eastern mezze-style dishes are perfect for piling on a plate to share at the table, and includes the particularly tasty spinach fatayer. The Indian curries are rich and well-seasoned, and you’ll also find an impressive selection of noodles and soups as well as British favourites like roast beef, plus a station full of vibrant salads. It’s a relatively standard brunch with no live entertainment or extras, although the food has a number of unique standout dishes – the spicy strawberry sushi, for example, is definitely a must-try – but the overall atmosphere will be too quiet for some.
