Just off The Walk and on the ground floor of the JA Ocean View Hotel, Le Rivage is a light, airy and spacious restaurant. To start off there are exquisite little dishes. We can’t get enough of the avocado mousse with shredded crab, shots of creamy leek and potato soup, bite-sized quiche lorraines and tiny pastries filled with cream cheese and topped with herbs and fish roe. Next up there are duck pancakes, Chinese dumplings, sushi, octopus, potato salad and sweet, hot edamame beans. Late-risers will appreciate the ‘breakfast bar’, with a full fry-up on offer, including crispy hash browns and eggs cooked how you like. And if you’re missing your mum’s roast dinner, there’s juicy chicken with almost all the trimmings. Le Rivage serves an impressive hot chocolate pudding with chocolate sauce, or an equally comforting hot bread and butter pudding. There isn’t a huge selection, overall, but what there is will impress. The emphasis is on the relaxing vibe and food rather than drinks here, but there is a package with house beverages if that’s what you’re after. A soulful singer keeps guests entertained and lifts the atmosphere.
