Brunch

Celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck’s Dubai outpost of his steakhouse CUT is a quintessentially classy, under-stated and slightly masculine looking restaurant. During brunch, plenty of natural light floods the dining area, while there’s also a small terrace overlooking the Burj Khalifa, plus a cosier, darker bar inside. With a charming take on what brunching means, the meal begins with a bread basket that includes fresh and lovely breakfast favourites such as muffins and croissants. The three-course set menu offers a choice of plates off the menu, and while main courses include steaks (of course), there are also plenty of other options to choose from. The standard across this playful and imaginative menu is very high. A highlight is the trolley full of ingredients for tomato-based mixed beverages. Also available are a number of other creative refreshments, and there is also a lot of mixing expertise on offer within the mocktail list. You’ll find a quiet, sophisticated crowd, enjoying a quiet and sophisticated lunch experience. The food and service are both excellent, and are the high points that should draw you in for this more civilised style of brunching. One thing to note on the menu is that side dishes are all charged separately.
Dhs290 (soft drinks), Dhs440 (selected beverages), Dhs650 (bubbly), half price (children six-12), free (children under six). Fri noon-4pm. The Address Downtown Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard (04 888 3444).
