Brasserie 2.0 brunch review

The recently renovated Brasserie 2.0 has branded its Friday feast as (yes, you guessed it) “Brunch 2.0”. And while there’s nothing particularly “superior” or “next-level” about the offering when compared to its price-point and geographical peers, it does produce an entertaining and typically good Dubai brunch. “Brunch 1.1”, if you will.

The jewel in the crown of this early afternoon affair is without doubt the terrace. The large space offers uninterrupted views of the Arabian Gulf, which also forms a sparkling backdrop for the resident band (one of the better musical performers you’ll discover at brunch). Add to this an outdoor grill, a couple of bars and a drop of sunshine, and the result is a terrace that can compete with any in town.

Indoors you’ll find several live cooking stations and a generous seafood selection. The venue describes its cuisine as “multicultural”. Or, to put it another way, it’s a brunch that allows you to have curry, sushi and hummus all on the same plate – and in this environment that’s a lovely thing.

The quality of the food is really very good, and a special mention must go to the supremely tasty seafood, which receives constant attention from the kitchen to ensure it stays fresh. You get the sense the seafood is something of a signature station at Brunch 2.0.

So whatever the occasion, be it a brunch with friends, colleagues or even the in-laws, this one fits the bill perfectly.
