While we love brunching in Dubai, there are a few things that sometimes we wish we could change.
Among those gripes is the appearance of lairy brunchers who seem to have turned up at the wrong venue. We all know which places to go to if you want constant drinks, food of variable quality, loud music and a full-on party atmosphere. Often it seems some groups want to take that behaviour wherever they go and when they do, it really gets our goat.
If that makes us sound like old grumps, then we guess that's sometimes true. But often you just want good music and a catch-up with friends over a few beverages and nice food. If that sounds like you, then head here.
Certo is an oft-overlooked Italian restaurant, which could be due to its location – busy during weekdays but less so at night or come the weekend. But the food on offer is really good, as is evidenced at this, the hotel's "Frunch". An antipasti table has cheeses, cold cuts, salads and breads, while a hot buffet offers dishes such as parmigiana. You can't go wrong with the pizzas though, nab a waiter and ask one to be cooked for the table.
In the lobby is an ice cream cart, Spanish tapas table and cured fish, all good quality.
Downstairs in Icon Lounge are oysters and cured meats, while upstairs in the bar you'll find a selection of British classics, served buffet-style. The Yorkshire puddings are top and the slow-cooked beef really hits the spot.
Throughout it all, laidback, funky tunes are provided by a DJ in Certo. But just at the right level so you can converse with your friends. And despite the staff's readiness with drinks, the atmosphere remains convivial without getting rowdy. Just the way
we like it.
