After dining at this US-style restaurant on quieter weekday nights, we head to this brunch expecting a chilled-out Friday affair. However, Eat & Meat delivers not only on excellent, creative food but also on fun.
The 1920s-themed “Hollywood Brunch” guarantees an elegant party atmosphere inspired by The Great Gatsby. Live music features Rat Pack classics as well as jazzy modern twists on popular songs. The surroundings are more intimate than some larger brunches and staff, dressed in their finest 1920s attire, are happy to explain the menu.
And let’s not forget, the food is excellent. A selection of starters are presented on a buffet, featuring salads packed into small jars. There is a wide selection of fresh shellfish, as well as an inviting station piled high with freshly baked bread.
Main courses come from a menu, and dishes are small so guests are encouraged to reorder after each, which means nothing is sitting around for long. Food arrives hot and carefully presented. The Hi-Tea, described as a lobster cappuccino, arrives in a dainty teapot with matching cup and saucer, with a side of delicate savoury macarons.
And we recommend you don’t leave without trying the in-house smoked lamb ribs, which are deliciously spiced and perfectly cooked.
For dessert lovers, a large display in the centre of the restaurant boasts an array of cakes, macarons (of the sweet variety this time), candyfloss and popcorn.
An ideal choice for couples, groups or families, Eat & Meat manages to strike a balance between buffet and à la carte, ensuring you have plenty of choice and piping hot food.
