5 meat-tastic steakhouses to try this weekend

Chow down on some seriously good steak (or fish, if that's what you're in to)

J&G Steakhouse
Once you’ve found The St. Regis, you’ll be rewarded by dining at one of the best steakhouses in town. A cool, dimly-lit space with dark woods, leather seating and marble surfaces. Serves excellent meat but also does seafood very well.  From the excellent cuts of meat to the daintier sides and seafood dishes, you won’t leave here disappointed.
Open daily 6.30pm-midnight. The St. Regis Dubai, Habtoor City, Business Bay (04 435 5577).

JW’s Steakhouse
With its friendly staff and warm decor, JW’s Steakhouse is one of the most inviting restaurants in the city. Heavy in dark greens and wood, with faded newspaper clippings and black and white photographs on the wall, it has a warm atmosphere. This is a restaurant that really prides itself on the quality of its meat, and the staff will display the cuts of what’s on special and explain the other options in detail. Seafood also features prominently on the menu, evident as you walk in past the tank full of lobsters, guaranteeing diners a fresh taste of the sea. As an all-round dining experience, JW’s is hard to beat. A Dubai institution, and with good reason.
Dhs400-600. Licensed. Open daily 5pm-midnight. JW Marriott Dubai, Deira (04 607 7977).

The Big Easy Bar & Grill
Popular with residents of Sports City, The Els Club is a great place to unwind in the suburbs. It's South African-inspired grill is a pretty good venue for those who love nothing more than a piece of meat and an accompanying glass of grape. The laidback atmosphere makes this place a relaxed place to enjoy good meat, and the view over the golf course is great.
Dhs450-600. The Els Club, Dubai Sports City (04 425 1037).

The Rib Room
This sophisticated steakhouse looks fantastic, and the food is top-notch too. Despite being located off the lobby in Jumeirah Emirates Towers, The Rib Room feels secluded and exclusive. The dark interior is stylish, with spacious cushioned seating lining the walls, and tables filling the centre of the dining room. When it gets busy – and it often does – the restaurant has a buzzing atmosphere and feels like the place to be. We love the barbecue brisket, but all the steaks are worth getting.
Dhs500+. Licensed. Open Sun-Thu noon-3pm, 6pm-midnight; Fri-Sat 6pm-midnight. Jumeirah Emirates Towers, Sheikh Zayed Road (04 432 3232). Other location: Jumeirah Zabeel Saray, Palm Jumeirah (04 453 0444).

Ruth's Chris Steakhouse
A dark and moody steakhouse with view of the Marina and a cool bar for after-dinner drinks. As far as a modern steakhouse goes, this is a pretty darn good setting. The choice of steaks is relatively easy to wade through and there’s plenty of options from rib-eyes to fillets. The sides can be overly indulgent and rich, while the starters’ are appealing, with the scallops in particular impressing.
Dhs600+. Licensed. Open daily 5.30pm-midnight. The Address Dubai Marina (04 454 9538).
