When we first heard the new Address Boulevard in Downtown Dubai only had one restaurant we were a little underwhelmed. After all, we’re used to big openings heralding a handful of new bars, restaurants and cafés. That the venue is simply called The Restaurant is also at odds with the big names and fancy titles of most of Dubai’s eateries and nightlife offerings.
However, the understated name and seemingly simple nature of The Restaurant belies a venue that has multiple areas to explore and a menu filled with interesting dishes and flavours served all day long.
It’s designed like a Parisian apartment, with a library, music room, games room and a dining room split into more formal and casual areas (there’s even a secret room hidden behind a bookcase). It means that you could eat in The Restaurant a dozen times and never have the same experience. It’s also the first in a series of Restaurants that will be based on apartments from across the world that will open in each new Address.
The hand-chopped beef tartare is a great example of what the kitchen does – a recognisable classic, given an upmarket twist. The fresh beef is topped with a Dijon dressing, confit egg yolk, sliced caper berries and micro leaves. Along with the potato crisps it’s served with, the dish has everything you could want from beef tartare.
So forget those preconceptions – in one venue, Address Boulevard has pulled of more than some hotels do in a handful.
