Massive burgers are a thing now and it doesn’t look like they’re going away any time soon. So those of us who care more about what we’re eating than the chance of getting our names written on a wall of fame might as well suck it up.
With that in mind we got a little bit excited when we found that the new menu at Arrows & Sparrows has something called the “huuuuge burger” on it. In reality, it pales in comparison to some of the Man v. Food-style monsters that you’ll find around town. But this is one creation that values quality and flavour as much as an impressive appearance.
And it does look mighty impressive, with a bright pink bun, courtesy of some clever use of beetroot, sandwiching the chunky fillings. Inside you’ll find two juicy, thick, home-made burgers with a generous slab of cheddar cheese, fresh tomato, lettuce, pickles, red onion, mushrooms and a cheesy sauce made with Parmesan.
It’s a top addition to the offerings at the cool café, which also has new breakfast dishes including truffle scrambled eggs and the “green breakfast” – kale, avocado and asparagus, with smoked yoghurt.
New sandwiches, mains and salads also make an appearance, with our pick being the “one of its kind” salmon salad.
Back to this big burger, though. We could scoff at the trend for biting into baps that are bigger than your head. Or, you know, join in the fun because you only live once.
