Dish of the week: Shellebration

Pierchic’s limited-edition summer menu is a good reason to celebrate

We’re not averse to a pun or two here at Time Out Dubai, plus any chance to indulge in some top-notch seafood is a reason to celebrate in our books, so we’re more than happy to see the return of Pierchic’s “Shellebration” tour this summer.

Designed by chef Paolo Bellamio from Padua, Italy, dishes on the special menu originate from his home nation, as well as from Spain, Portugal, England, France and Belgium. Each dish is available for an exclusive two-week period only, until the event draws to a close on Thursday September 28. The fishy expedition kicked off on Friday July 7 in Spain (not literally), with a traditional paella.

Other treats still to come include a cataplana de peixe y marisco (traditional fish stew) from Portugal, crab and crevettes from France and a good ol’ bowl of moules marinière by way of Belgium.

Our ears also prick up at posh fish and chips – delightful-sounding crisp, hops batter-encased turbot, served with triple-cooked Maris Piper chips, which can’t fail to remind Brits of their favourite dish back home (albeit a classier version than your average haddock and mushy peas).

But the dish we’re most interested in is the Italian one, an authentic catalana di crostacei, which is available until Thursday July 27.

The elaborate seafood platter stars lobster, scallops and king crab, alongside cherry tomatoes, celery, carrots, peppers and radish, and can be served hot or cold.

Quick, make your way down the pier, you don’t have long to “catch” it (ahem).
