With vibrant, fun and eclectic décor – as well as some authentic and delicious-sounding dishes – exciting new eatery Little Miss India launches at Fairmont The Palm on Thursday November 2.
Based around fictional character Mohini Singh, Little Miss India aims to take diners on a “journey through her worldly travels, amazing achievements and eccentric menu”.
“This quirky concept fuses a vibrant and colonial restaurant and lounge bar to tell a personal story, allowing guests to explore the incredible quality, history and diversity of Indian cuisine,” says the team behind it.
The restaurant boasts colourful interiors and a sweeping outdoor terrace, while the centrepiece is a “Tribal Art Taxi” (one of the brightly painted trucks frequently seen in South Asia) marking the entrance.
The dining room has antique wooden doors, vibrant artwork and polished brass walls, plus an open kitchen. There’s also a lounge bar area where a resident DJ will mix tunes daily from 10pm until 1am.
Cuisine focuses on regional Indian flavours. The emphasis is on sharing and signature dishes include dum biryani, lamb rogan josh, butter chicken, spicy shrimp curry and this tandoori raan.
“The raan is an authentic and great-tasting dish,” says Chef Alan Gobeil. “We marinate a leg of lamb, slow-cook it for eight hours and finish it in the tandoor. It’s served with dal makhani and naan, it’s a must-try.”
We can’t wait to do just that.
