New dishes: Post-Christmas crackers

The cooler weather remains (yes that was actual rain), which means eating for winter is still a thing. And if you haven’t already had your fill from all the Christmas food, it’s time for more dining.

Happily the new menu from trendy French restaurant Bistrot Bagatelle hasn’t a turkey drumstick or mince pie in sight. What it does have, however, is heaps of winterery combinations that are sure to blow away any post-Christmas blues.

Inspired by Parisian flavours and colours, the new menu runs every Saturday, coming in at Dhs475 for five courses, making it the ideal weekend date-night for January cheat days. Dishes on the fancy new menu include striploin of beef with potato rosti and sauce Bordelaise, and tea-brined brined salmon with sweet potato. What catches our eye, though, is this pumpkin and ricotta tortellini with brown butter beurre blanc and toasted pumpkin seeds.

“The new menu has been inspired by the cooler months and I really wanted to do a seasonal menu based on beautiful European and American ingredients,” executive chef Timothy Newton tells Time Out Dubai. “It’s peak season for pumpkin, wild mushrooms and figs so it’s nice to be able to incorporate these into the menu and make them stand out.

“This tortellini is my favourite dish as it’s delicate, while giving you that comforting, warm feeling when you eat it.”

No need for winter woolies, this one will keep you cosy in a far more fun and tasty way.
