Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, or so the old adage goes, and who are we to argue with that? It seems only fitting therefore that our next morning-time treat should be at The Sum of Us, which has launched a new menu.
If you can tear your senses away from the smell of freshly baked bread and that salted caramel French toast, then turn your attention to the brand-new lobster toast, which looks like an excellent way to start any day. Chunks of meaty crustacean come with charred cucumber, lime mayo and a green tomato salsa and our favourite breakfast staple – avocado. This is all piled on crispy toast with a wedge of lemon.
Pair it with a cup of coffee made from the café’s own micro-roaster and you’ve got a winning morning right there.
It’s not just breakfast that’s had a revamp though, dinner and lunch dishes are light and fresh-sounding, and include a king fish crudo with yuzu, sorrel, radish, jalapeño and avocado (Dhs68) and a kimchi bowl with soba noodles, marinated tofu, buckwheat, seeded avocado, kimchi mayo, spinach and shoyu dressing (Dhs54).
“We only use wholesome ingredients, bursting with flavour, to create dishes that are simple, but never basic,” The Sum of Us team tells Time Out Dubai. “Our incredibly talented chefs love to experiment and create dishes that are dynamic, interesting and beautiful. Visitors will experience a diverse menu full of flavour and texture.”
That’s worth setting the alarm clock for.
