Time Out Says

Gordon Ramsay’s protégés, Nick Alvis and his partner in cooking Scott Price are quite the foodie celebrities on the Dubai dining scene, and with good reason.

Creativity with classic ingredients is what their restaurant not only does, but does exceptionally well.

As Time Out Dubai's best European Restaurant 2020, folly by Nick & Scott is a must-visit restaurant in one of Dubai's most popular and picturesque tourist areas.

An ambient modern setting where dark greys and hardwoods work green wall accents set the scene in the main restaurant. The outdoor terrace boasts one of the best views in the city the twinkling lights of Souk Madinat Jumeirah and its winding waterways provide a magical backdrop to your meal.

But the best seats in the house – of which there are only eight – are found in front of the open kitchen where the energy of the skilful team of chefs, who are only too happy to talk you through the dishes while they work their magic, make for an interactive, theatrical culinary experience.

Small, well-executed portions are delivered with a flourish and a helpful, detailed explanation. And an expert sommelier is on hand to talk you through the best grape pairings.

Don’t miss the delicious Devon crab topped with salty, crispy seaweed and the smoked quail that is perfectly paired with celeriac and sweet hazelnut.

Mains include gamey guinea fowl, lamb and beef, but pescatarians are looked after, too, with seafood options such as stone bass and cod. Creamed jacket potatoes, sautéed greens and hand cut chips accompany the main event.

There's also a fantastic bar to check out before or after dinner, or even just for a sundowner, but we'd advise you staying for a bite to eat while you're there.

There isn’t much to not love about folly by Nick & Scott so “go soon” is our best advice.
