Time Out Says

This isn’t your typical Mexican. The contemporary space is almost corridor in shape, and nothing in the decor suggests that you’re “South of the Border”. There are no windows and it feels a little boxy with a lack of personality. Service is satisfactory, with everyone perfectly polite. It’s all quite run of the mill, that is, until the food arrives. What you find on the menu here is pretty darn good. There are several quirky and contemporary dishes that are both visual and tasty. One of our favourites is the Fuego Burger – a tortilla-style offering wrapped in a gooey-guacamole-mess of loveliness. But for all the positives, the overall experience is lacking. It suffers particularly when compared to other options in Souk Al Bahar that offer a similar quality of food. As the evening progresses (and particularly at the weekend) the venue’s personality and atmosphere does pick up, but not so much that we're clamouring to return.
