Time Out Says

It’s tough to decide which view is the more spectacular at this impressive newcomer to the Dubai dining scene. As we arrive at the prime spot in Souk Al Bahar, we’re immediately wowed by the stunning sight of the Burj Khalifa looming large over the outdoor terrace overlooking the waterfront promenade. But for confirmed meat-lovers, watching glistening slabs of steak and juicy burgers being cooked up in the open kitchen really catches the eye, too.

This Turkish trendsetter pioneered the steakhouse market in its homeland and it’s clear that it’s out to make a big impression in the city.

Choosing to soak up those superb skyline views and turquoise waters, we opt for an outdoor spot and are swiftly impressed by the extensive menu, featuring seriously cool-sounding burgers, traditional Turkish kebabs, an array of hot and cold mezzes and a choice of steaks, including dry-aged for that more matured taste. Things, however, get off to a bumpy start. Our dry-aged rib-eye steak is brought to our table before we’ve even caught a glimpse of our chosen starter.

After a quick word in the ear of a waiter, we dig into the huge cut. The knife glides through the tender meat, which is packed full of flavour and seasoned so well it feels a crime to lather on the spicy mustard side. The creamy mashed potato (patates püresi) is a perfect pairing. Our starter of muhammara, a spicy pepper paste with garlic and walnuts, is a success, but the long wait means we have to eat it alongside the main. Not ideal. Traditional Turkish ice cream has that stretchy quality you’d expect and is good, too.

The top-quality food doesn’t come cheap, so we hope the shaky service finds a firmer footing soon.

The Bill (for one)
1x Rib-eye Steak (300g) Dhs275
1x Patates Püresi Dhs25
1x Muhammara Dhs30
1x Dondurma Cesitleri Dhs35
1x Coke Dhs16
Total (excluding service) Dhs381

The Bottom Line
Quality food in a great setting.
