Time Out Says
You’ll struggle to find a menu longer than Gypsy Chinese’s, with more than 20 pages of choices (many of them vegetarian). To save time, order the Szechuan spring rolls. They’re a filling starter and their lightly golden exterior puts most other overcooked spring rolls to shame. Another worthy starter is the tofu with hunan sauce, a flavoursome mix of ginger, garlic and spice capable of captivating the most stubborn of meat lovers. That’s not to say that all the dishes on the menu are outstanding. Portions are generous but some main courses don’t merit the high price tag. Gypsy Chinese is best enjoyed on a budget, as most of its food choices are hearty but don’t deliver the memorable flavours you usually get with Chinese cuisine.
