Il Rustico

Time Out Says

This small, homely pizzeria has a cosy cottage-like ambiance; it attracts lots of families, perhaps as a result. Music plays low in the background, creating a peaceful atmosphere in which to enjoy conversation and good food. The menu is full of Italian classics but is just the right length to be appetising without overwhelming. Portion sizes are ample and the melt-in-your-mouth carpaccio di manzo starter is well prepared and presented. The pastas do better than the pizzas, which come on bases that taste like they’ve come straight from a supermarket freezer. We’d recommend the pennette gamberi – seafood pasta that comes with a generous helping of plump juicy prawns and a creamy sauce packed with parsley. Il Rustico is a great stop-off for something a bit more special among the throng of eateries in the area, and a meal for two including delightful desserts (we recommend the indulgent oozy chocolate fondant) won’t leave you feeling light in the pocket.
