Time Out Says
For a restaurant with the world’s only chef to have two Michelin stars for Indian cuisine behind it, expectations are high, but Indego by Vineet at Grosvenor House has becomea little disappointing. Chef Vineet Bhatia’s restaurants around the world are excellent, but we’ve found this one to offer up slow service, some food verging on the ordinary and extremely high prices. In fact, these prices are among the highest in this category. We’re not saying the food is bad – actually, a few of the dishes here are downright delicious (especially the gunpowder coconut prawns starter, which is worth forking out more than Dhs140 for) – but you’d expect them to be positively mind-blowing for the Dhs230 you can be charged for main dishes. And they’re not. Then, you’ll probably have to wait a substantial amount of time between courses, even when the restaurant isn’t particularly busy. Having said all that, the setting is lovely – the place is authentically decorated, with a modern edge, and the outdoor terrace offers lovely views of Dubai Marina. But Indego seems to be getting left behind by some of the newer restaurants in this category.
