From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2010You can’t get more Tehran than this place – sounds of the Persian kamancheh (a stringed instrument) play in the background, women are required to don a provided veil, and refreshing black mint tea is requisite. Aside from this quirky authenticity, the food is exceptional and its popularity among Iranians is testament to this. The salad buffet opener is a must, with some of the best, earthy houmous ever to grace a Dubai tablecloth, and be sure to grab plenty of mast, Iran’s signature yoghurt. The club’s homemade batch is incredibly fresh and light, flavoured with flecks of sweet cucumber. Distinct Persian spiced kebabs dominate the mains. All come with freshly baked bread from the clay oven and a plate of saffron rice that, while the helpings of saffron aren’t too eager, is perfect with plenty of creamy mast. Round things off with an eye-twitchingly sweet faloodeh shirazi sorbet. An odd place maybe, but it is darn Iran.
